Kirkcaldy 2nd XV 38 Dunfermline 2nd XV 10

The 2s made the short trip to McKane Park with 8 personnel and 13 positional changes from last week. They did however start this game with a bang. Feeding off a couple of pressurised mistakes, Marshall bagged himself 2 tries within the first 3 minutes, Gilmour converting one.

The pace of the game kept up and Dunfermline scored a good try after the Kirkcaldy backs were caught out of position. The game settled down a little with both teams trying to play an open game. The Dunfermline centre was making good yards and was a constant threat, breaking the gain line on most occasions. Kirkcaldy were getting the upper hand in the loose and were the next to score. From a defensive scrum the Dunfermline stand-off had his kick charged and Brown capitalised scoring under the posts. Kirkcaldy probably should have scored more but the required accuracy was sadly missing. Half time Dunfermline 5 v 19 Kirkcaldy.

Dunfermline came out in the second half and immediately closed the gap in the scoreline. Poor decision making from the kick off by Kirkcaldy resulted in a turnover and after the ball was moved wide the Dunfermline winger finished well. Kirkcaldy responded well and after good work and control by the forwards Lowe was put in space to score in the corner. The game began to get scrappy with both teams losing a bit of shape to their play. Castle-Smith scored Kirkcaldy's 5th try with a darting run piercing the home defence. The scoring was completed by Oliver who was on the end of some good interplay to score under the posts to cap a good all round display.

Final score Dunfermline 2XV 10 v 38 Kirkcaldy 2XV.

Overall a decent win but if all the chances that were created had been taken, then the scoreline could have been a bit different.
