This week's edition of the Fife Free Press recorded in its  Death Notices the passing  of Bill Dewar at  the age of 84 at his  home in Ballymena, County Antrim.  Born and brought up in Kirkcaldy, Bill joined Kirkcaldy RFC after leaving school and served it in  a variety of capacities, including secretary and  match secretary and for a period, captain of the 2nd XV. \in the 1950s and into the 1960's, Bill, alongwith his friend, the late Bill Clark, ran the annual sevens tournament. In fact there was hardly an aspect of the club's activities in which he was not involved

On leaving school Bill joined the Kirkcaldy linoleum firm Barry, Ostlere and Shepherd.  When they closed he moved to Stoke on Trent to work for the  Michelin tyre company.  In the 1970's Michelin offered him a  post in their new factory in Northern Ireland and he moved  then to Ballymena where he remained for the rest of life

Bill had a long association with Ballymena RFC, for many years one of the top clubs in Ireland and boasting such celebrated players as Willie-John McBride and Syd Miller. After retiring from work, he became Ballymena'c Club Steward

Predeceased by his wife ten years ago, Bill is survived by his three brothers, son, grand children and great grand children
