League matches may have just finished at the Beveridge Park, but the rugby continues this Saturday with the annual Kirkcaldy Sevens tournament. For the first time the event joins the Legacy 7s series and also serves as the opening round.
Play gets under way at 12 noon, with the on-field action lasting until around 6pm. Off the pitch we’ll have a BBQ, kids can enjoy a rugby taster session, while the entertainment continuing into the evening with a disco at the club, hosted by Richard Dewar. Our thanks go to Digby Brown Solicitors who will once again sponsor the event.
The club hopes to welcome around twelve senior Men’s teams, who will compete for the Heggie Cup - won last year by Boroughmuir. A selection of Ladies squads also taking part in their own competition.
The Legacy 7s series was established in the run up to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and this year features seven events held over five weeks across Central Scotland. Teams score points based on their finishing position in each tournament, with the top clubs qualifying for the Glasgow City Sevens in May.
