Eggcellent away win for Blues 2nd XV

The Blues2’s travelled to Blairgowrie for their penultimate game of the season. With the returning players, a strong squad was assembled with the hope of getting back to our expansive game.
After 30 seconds played this seemed to work perfectly, a good take and charge from the kick off, clean quick ball was spread out to Watson and the winger danced passed 3 defenders to score under the posts.
A good scrum platform allowed centre Turner to cut a great line to again score under the posts. The forwards were not to be outdone and with the front row of Girdler , Lithgow and Grainger making strong runs it was Mitchell who popped up from the bottom of a pile to claim the next score. Blairgowrie came back into it and after good few phases were rewarded with a try out wide. The 2s claimed the bonus point try before half time with Littlejohn giving his brother the space for him to score.
Half time Blairgowrie 5 v 28 Kirkcaldy 2XV.
Changes were made at half time but the intensity of the Kirkcaldy game didn’t waver. Graham was first to score in the second half quickly followed by Littlejohn’s second. More changes were made giving the whole squad some decent game they deserved. The forwards were having a great tussle all day with their counterparts. Hard rucking, mauling and spoiling each others possession. The Kirkcaldy backs had the upper hand though and after a clever kick Brookes was next to score. More hard graft by the forwards and it was Thomson who scorched over from 2 feet!! Littlejohn got his 3rd before the home side had the last say with a second try of their own. Littlejohn had a good day with the boot and although he only missed 2 conversions the referee missed counted one so instead of the true score of 10 v 59 the league will show Blairgowrie 10 v 57 Kirkcaldy 2xv.
An eggcellent way to finish our away campaign with the whole squad playing well and everyone contributing hugely. The forwards giving the platform for the backs to use the space created, which they did very well.
And of course a huge well done to Elkie for his award winning creation, and to all who made the effort in the Great Egg Decoration Contest.
