This collective faux pas should not distract however from an excellent game of rugby played by two teams who certainly gave their all in attack and defence.
Although there were no points scored in the second half both teams tried their hardest to break the deadlock but the defensive work of both teams prevailed, though Finlay Smith did come close with his impersonation of a snail! His half back colleague David Anderson was certainly in the thick of things showing his tenacious side on more than one occasion.
Highland started off the better team and their well drilled pack stamped their authority on the game early on leading to the first score. Kirkcaldy responded well with a try from Jamie Ferguson after a fine passage of multiphase plays. Finlay Smith converted this as well as a penalty but in between the visitors scored a converted try that ultimately was the match winning score.
It was difficult to say which team deserved to win but in the end Highland's teamwork overcame Kirkcaldy's individual efforts - certainly both teams knew they had been a good old dogfight of a game.
Next week training will continue but perhaps with some additional arithmetic lessons!
